Oregon Rose

Light, floral, and balanced with bright citrus, the Oregon Rose Cocktail features spirits and flavors from our native state.  Rose petals are infused into amazingly smooth Crater Lake Spirits Reserve Vodka—a vodka filtered 100 times through lava rock.   The overtly floral La Aurora Meadow honey enhances the rose infusion, and plays well with citrus because of it’s tart fruit undertones.  A flavor you may never have tried finishes the drink: Clear Creek Distillery Douglas Fir Brandy, a clear spirit made from Oregon Douglas Fir buds.  It adds a mystifying fruity/floral/forest flavor that ties the all the flavors together.

INGREDIENTS

1 part Crater Lake Reserve Vodka
1 part La Aurora Honey syrup*
1 part rose-infused vodka
1 part grapefruit juice
½ part lime juice
¼  part rose water
¼ part Clear Creek Distillery Douglas Fir Brandy
1 strip of lime peel (no with pith)

INSTRUCTIONS

Add all ingredients to glass-filled shaker and shake vigorously.  Strain into a martini glass with a fine-mesh sieve.

ROSE-INFUSED VODKA

½ cup dried rose petals
½ cup Crater Lake Reserve Vodka

Heat the vodka carefully and slowly in a small saucepan until steamy, but not simmering.  Remove from heat.  Add rose petals, and let cool.  Strain the vodka through a fine-mesh sieve, pressing the remaining vodka from the petals.  Store in the refrigerator.

HONEY SYRUP

Measure ¼ cup of honey into measuring cup.  Add ¼  cup of very hot water and stir until smooth.  Refrigerate when not in use. For the Oregon Rose, use La Aurora Meadow Honey.

 Notes:

*The sweetness or tartness of citrus can vary wildly.  If your citrus is extra-sweet, cut back the honey syrup to ½ part and taste.  Add more until balanced or to taste
